Deanna Starr is the Founder and Lead Occupational Therapist (OT) of Miskihnak (Mis-gah-nak) Occupational Therapy. She is from Little Pine First Nation in Treaty 6 Territory. She founded Miskihnak OT, an Indigenous owned and led pediatric clinic, dedicated to providing children and their families with an excellent standard of care, grounded in Nehiyaw worldview.

Deanna’s OT practice has been focused in pediatrics since 2021. She believes that children are a gift from the creator and are born exactly the way that they are supposed to be, and it’s our job as adults to provide them what they need so that they can thrive. In addition to providing support for children, her OT practice provides support for the caregivers, teachers, educators, education assistants and anyone else involved in the care.

Deanna is sought after for her expertise in reconciliation in the rehabilitation profession, she has worked with major institutions, businesses, health and education departments. Her approach is gentle, welcoming and authentic. She speaks passionately about her personal and professional experience as an Indigenous OT in the field.

She has completed a Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy, and a Bachelor of Arts in Sport, Health and Physical Education. She is in the process of becoming a Somatic Embodiment Practitioner and Coach.
